COMBAT PRO HD

SKU: 140013

LIGHTEST WEIGHT. ULTIMATE STRENGTH.

Our World Cup Team Riders‘ sail of choice. Completely redesigned for 2024. A higher aspect design featuring a slightly longer mast, wider head and narrower boom greatly increases high end control in this year’s edition of our best selling wave sail.

Pro HD construction combines the lightweight Ultra Scrim sail body featured in our Pro Fuse sails with an X- Ply centre window for an even more bullet- proof sail. Powerfuse in the tack and clew offer pro level strength to weight ratio at a more affordable price than Pro Fuse.

DESIGN DRIVEN

INNOVATION

Designed and tested at our NeilPryde Maui Design Center by Robert Stroj, then further developed through our team riders' feedback from across the world. No stone is left uncovered in our relentless drive to be the best at what we do.

For 2024, we re-invented our wave sail range from the bottom up. We started at the 3D design level, creating new panel layouts and using new materials to eliminate stitches, reduce weight and increase responsiveness.

The result is our best wave sail line up in the company's history.

Sail Features

Drive & Acceleration

A new, higher aspect design for 2024 with a slightly longer luff, narrower boom and bigger head gives the Combat excellent drive and acceleration whether on the wave or getting going in marginal conditions.

Wide Wind Range

Thanks to the re-designed outline, updated luff curve and new, larger panel layout, the 2024 Combat is the most versatile version of this sail yet. Rig it full when the wind is light or you want to use a small sail for extra maneuverability, or pull on a little extra outhaul when rigging for over-powered conditions.

Stability

Our latest luff curve and sail shaping have stiffened up the sail very slightly compared to 2023 and the result is a stain which will remain stable even in high winds.

Light Weight

Our new panel layout has drastically reduced the amount of stitches needed in the sail. This combined with carefully planned material selections has allowed us to cut around 25% off the weight of the sails compared to last year.

Robert Stroj

In order to achieve the weight savings and performance enhancements that we were looking for in 2024, we redesigned our entire wave sail construction, all the way from the panel layout.

We developed very specific materials across the range which enabled us to use larger individual panels with less seams in order to significantly reduce the weight of all 3 technologies.

Variable thickness laminates have been the basis of NeilPryde’s panel layout design philosophy for over 10 years and we have been improving their performance and increasing the areas where we are able to use these technologies year over year.

Robby Swift

As a wave sailor who has been involved in the R&D for the Combat since 2004, I can honestly say that this year’s edition of the Combat is the biggest single-year advancement we have ever made. The Pro Fuse version is the epitome of all of our design knowledge and it is an amazing step forward.

We have eliminated many seams from the sail: the leading edge luff sleeve seam, the seam that used to go around the entire head of the sail where Ultra Scrim was replaced by Technora and all of the seams from the tack and clew.

The Pro Fuse material itself is also significantly lighter than Powerfuse due to its construction and this has allowed us to make the sails a massive 25% lighter. When you first pick up a sail in your hands before rigging, you can immediately feel the weight difference and on the water, the light handling is instantly noticeable.

We also massively improved the high-wind performance of the sails this year through a combination of a new luff curve, new shaping and new sail outline, together with the introduction of the new materials and the result is definitely our best all-round high-performance wave sail ever.
